The Institute for Local Governance (ILG) is a pioneering research and knowledge exchange venture designed to maximise the benefits of collaboration between all five universities in North East England and wider public realm. The collaborative approach of the organisation meant a new identity was required to amalgamate brand values of all participant universities. Crombie were tasked with creating an identity to include values of all the Uni’s, while highlighting stand out as an independent body. The ident, composed of 5 inwardly pointing arrows denoting the group involvement, also incorporates a ‘star’, signifying the quality and aspiration of the venture. We created further stand out with a distinctive new colour palette in green and lime, which was a strategic move away from the provincial ‘bishops’ purple, heavily used by local universities.
